It has been a very busy year at the Trust with the launch of our Centenary display at Liverpool Central Library celebrating the Clayton Square store which opened in November 1925. At our launch event we welcomed members of the Owen Owen and Norman families as well as trustees, former staff and their families. Trustees Amanda Gibbon, Owen Owen’s great granddaughter and Alan Turner former general manager at the Clayton Square store were interviewed by local radio to promote the Centenary display. Wonderful memories from the store were shared, including one caller who recalled a Portuguese member of staff setting up a help desk during the 1966 Football World Cup to assist visitors when the Brazilian team – including of course Pele – visited the city and thus the store. Thanks to all those who have visited the display so far. If you have yet to see it, you have until end of December 2025 to do so.
